About the Suzuki VS1400GL
The GL carburetor split is more useful than one broad Intruder year range.
The VS1400GL belongs to Suzuki’s large Intruder V-twin family. The original VS1400 combined air/oil cooling with shaft drive, but the useful distinction for a GL repair is often much smaller: which carburetor, which joint and which model year. An early front-carburetor kit should not be carried forward into later years by appearance alone.
Keep engine and exhaust sealing separate
An engine gasket set, an exhaust-port gasket and a muffler-joint gasket seal different places. Locate the leak and identify the joint before choosing a package. The GL engine set has broader listed coverage than the selected carburetor kits, so its year range cannot be reused for the fuel system.

Check before orderingIdentify your VS1400GL and fitted parts
- Retain the GL suffix when reading a part’s compatibility list.
- Mark front and rear carburetor parts during disassembly so position-specific pieces remain identifiable.
- For a sealing repair, compare the original joint and the gasket shape before relying on the engine size.
