About the Yamaha DT250
Treat the DT250’s engine, fork and fuel system as separate year-specific parts searches.
A DT250 restoration can involve service parts from different stages of the model’s development. The fuel tap below covers 1974–1976, the brake shoes 1975–1979, and the gasket set 1977–1982. The fork-seal example is narrower still, identifying 1979.
Identify the engine and fork before combining parts
Compare the gasket set with the engine joints you plan to open. For the fork, use the actual seal dimensions and model-year application. A 1979 fork-seal entry remains specific to that repair even when the gasket set covers more years; replacement engines and front ends need their own identification.

Engine sealing
1977–1982 gasket-set example
Compare the included gaskets with the joints you will open. A set title alone does not establish that every engine seal is included.
Forks
1979 oil-seal example
The selected seals measure 36 × 48 × 10.5 mm and list 1979. Other DT250 years need their own listed application.
Fuel and brakes
Earlier service ranges
The petcock and brake shoes cover different ranges. Identify the tank mount and the brake position before selecting either part.
Identify your motorcycle before orderingDT250 identification checklist
- Frame and model
- Record the complete stamped model and frame/VIN characters.
- Engine and fitted assembly
- Record engine markings separately, then compare the component being repaired.
- Assembly comparison
- Compare the fitted assemblies with the correct model-year parts diagram or service manual, especially when an engine, carburetor, wheel or front end has been replaced.
