About the Yamaha XS850S
Plan XS850S cable, carburetor and engine work with the right parts for each repair.
The XS850S shares the Yamaha XS850 family’s DOHC three-cylinder engine layout and shaft final drive. For a restoration or return to regular riding, separate the controls from the fuel-system and engine work. An S-model cable needs a routing and end-fitting check, while a carburetor gasket needs to match the bowl it seals.
Carburetor bowl gaskets and engine gasket sets
For 1980–1981 XS850S carburetor work, the float-bowl gasket below is sold individually. Match its outline and openings to the fitted bowl, then count the bowls being serviced. The engine gasket set lists XS850S 1980–1982 and should be chosen around the engine joints being opened. Check its contents separately from the carburetor repair order.

Use the motorcycle’s own markings. For an imported or modified bike, include the market and photos of the assembly being repaired.
- Model and market: Record the complete model designation and model year from the motorcycle label and matching documents.
- Frame and engine: Photograph the frame/VIN marking and engine number separately. A replacement engine needs its own identification.
- Fitted component: Note the fitted carburetor, bowl-gasket profile, clutch-cable ends and front master-cylinder markings, as relevant to the repair.
- Product match: Compare the exact model-year application, dimensions and package contents. Confirm any unlisted year or component mismatch before ordering.
