About the Yamaha XT550
A YDIS-era XT with distinct fuel-system, engine-sealing and clutch service needs.
Yamaha introduced the XT550 after the XT500, adding the Yamaha Dual Intake System, known as YDIS. Yamaha retained YDIS as the XT line developed toward the XT600 Ténéré. For XT550 carburetor service, that history makes identifying the fitted intake arrangement worthwhile before comparing a needle, seat or other internal component.
Match the repair to the component’s own years
The featured float valve, fork seals and steel clutch plate list XT550 1982–1983. The engine gasket set carries a 1982–1984 catalog application. Check the gasket contents against the planned teardown, and verify the market identity for a bike associated with that 1984 entry.

Compare the float needle, seat and bowl shape with the fitted carburetor. A carburetor part listed for another XT model needs an explicit XT550 application.

Keep the 1984 gasket entry separate
The gasket set lists 1982–1984; the highlighted float needle and fork seals list 1982–1983. Do not use the gasket range to fill missing carburetor years.

Steel and friction plates differ
The steel plate shown below is a different service component from a friction plate. Check the plate type and stack position before deciding quantity.
