About the Yamaha YZ250F

The four-stroke F has its own service needs, with individual year checks for fuel, oil and chassis parts.

Yamaha Motorcycle Logo

Yamaha introduced the four-stroke YZ250F in 2001. Keep the F in the model designation when choosing parts: the YZ250 collection also contains applications for a different engine family. Capacity and similar names are not enough to identify an oil filter, carburetor kit or internal engine component.

Plan early-model service by component

The oil filter and carburetor mid-body kit featured here list YZ250F 2001–2002. A petcock repair kit lists 2005–2006, clutch springs cover 2001–2007, and the fork seals shown cover 2004–2011. Those ranges describe separate products; none should be used as a blanket fitment range for the motorcycle.

Early fuel and oil service

2001–2002 applications

The linked oil filter and carburetor mid-body kit each list 2001–2002. The mid-body kit is for that section of the carburetor; compare any other rebuild components separately.

Other service ranges

Springs, fuel tap and forks

The clutch spring kit lists 2001–2007, the petcock repair kit lists 2005–2006 and the fork seals list 2004–2011. Match the specific component and the contents needed for your repair.

Identify your motorcycle before orderingYZ250F identification and service checklist

  1. Keep the F suffix and exact model year when comparing an application. Record the engine marking as well as the frame identification.
  2. Identify the fitted carburetor or fuel-system component. A mid-body kit and a petcock repair kit service different assemblies.
  3. Check the installed forks and compare the spring kit’s contents separately from clutch plates or other clutch service items.

Yamaha YZ250F parts questions

Is Yamaha YZ250F a separate application from YZ250?
Yes. The YZ250F is the four-stroke F model introduced in 2001. Keep that suffix when choosing engine, oil-filter and fuel-system parts; a YZ250 application alone does not confirm YZ250F fitment.
Which YZ250F years does the oil filter in this guide cover?
The linked oil-filter listing explicitly includes YZ250F 2001–2002. Later model years need their own verified application; do not extend the range from a similar-looking filter.
Is the YZ250F mid-body kit a complete carburetor rebuild kit?
It is a carburetor mid-body rebuild kit with screws, listed for YZ250F 2001–2002. Compare the included pieces with the section being repaired and choose other carburetor service parts separately.
Which YZ250F years do the clutch spring and petcock kits cover?
The clutch spring kit lists YZ250F 2001–2007; the petcock repair kit lists 2005–2006. The spring kit is separate from clutch plates, and the petcock kit repairs the fuel tap rather than supplying a complete tap.
