About the Honda CR80
A CR80 family guide that separates engine years, early forks and front/rear brake applications.
For an older CR80 project, write down CR80, CR80R or CR80RB Expert exactly as identified, then separate engine and chassis work. The CR80R model guide provides the next step for an R-model repair. A donor engine or front end may require a different parts application from the frame.
Front and rear brake years are not the same
The featured CR80R front drum shoes list 1983–1985, while the rear shoes list 1982–1991. The early fork oil seals list 1982–1983 and measure 31 × 43 × 10 mm; the engine gasket set lists 1986–1991. These are component ranges, not a claim that the full motorcycle stayed unchanged.
Know your CR80 before choosing partsCR80, CR80R and Expert applications
CR80R, 1986–1991
Engine gasket set
Check the installed engine and included gasket shapes. Do not use this engine-part range to choose forks or brake shoes.
CR80R, 1982–1983
31 × 43 × 10 mm fork oil seals
Measure the old seal and compare its profile. Later R forks and replacement front ends require their own identified application.
CR80R drum brakes
Front: 1983–1985; rear: 1982–1991
The product references overlap, but the listed wheel positions and year windows differ. Keep front and rear as separate order lines and match the fitted hub.
CR80RB Expert or modified chassis
Identify the actual wheels and forks
Retain the RB Expert designation and identify donor assemblies. An R-model listing needs an explicit matching application before it can be used for an Expert repair.
Identify your vehicle before orderingCR80 model and component checklist
- Record the complete model designation, model year and market from the identification label and ownership records.
- Photograph frame and engine markings separately, especially if the engine has been replaced.
- For fork seals, compare the old seal’s dimensions and profile with the product specification.
- For brakes, record front or rear, drum or disc, and the shoe or pad shape. Note any replacement wheels or forks.
