Kawasaki’s 1978 KL250 paired a four-stroke single-cylinder engine with an overhead camshaft, kick starting and road equipment for dual-purpose riding. Restoring one today means looking beyond its appearance: the engine, carburetor and chassis may have different service needs, and replacement assemblies need their own identification.

KL250A and KL250C owners have dedicated model collections below. For the liquid-cooled KLR250 identified by the KL250D code, use the separate D-model collection. Other KL250 designations must match the full application on the chosen part. Which collection should I use for Kawasaki KL250A, KL250C or KL250D parts?
Use the A or C collection when that designation matches your motorcycle. KL250D is the model code used for the liquid-cooled KLR250, which has a separate collection. Retain the full model code and year when reading each product’s fitment.
Can KL250A and KL250C share a cam chain but need different engine gaskets?
Yes. The linked cam chain lists KL250A 1978–1982 and KL250C 1983–1984. The engine gasket set shown here lists KL250A 1978–1981. The chain’s wider application does not establish the same complete gasket set for both engines.
How do I choose KL250 steering bearings after a front-end conversion?
