About the Honda TRX250
Separate the early FourTrax, base-model Recon and suffix models before choosing ATV repair parts.
TRX250 is not one continuous parts application. The verified examples here distinguish the 1985–1987 FourTrax rear drum from 1997–2001 base-model Recon carburetor and rear-brake work. The two shoe listings use different replacement references, providing a second check alongside year and hub shape.
Read the full suffix before the number
Use TRX250R parts for that sport-model designation and TRX250TE Recon ES parts when TE is recorded. The Honda TRX family guide provides the other suffix routes. A shared TRX250 number does not establish the carburetor, transmission or brake assembly.
Know your TRX250 before choosing partsTRX250 FourTrax, Recon and suffix models
TRX250 FourTrax, 1985–1987
Early rear shoes: 43120-KG4-006
The early rear-shoe listing replaces this reference. Compare the fitted drum, shoe width and pivot/cam ends. It is separate from the later Recon listing.
TRX250 Recon, 1997–2001
Later rear shoes: 43120-942-000
Use this application for the listed base-model Recon years. The different reference helps distinguish the later repair; still compare the installed hub.
TRX250 Recon, 1997–2001
Carburetor rebuild kit
Match the fitted carburetor and kit contents. Shared applications on the same kit do not extend all Recon parts across suffixes or years.
TRX250R, X, EX, TE or TM
Choose the complete model route
Keep the suffix from the vehicle identification. The base TRX250 examples are not substitutes for an unconfirmed suffix-model application.
Identify your vehicle before orderingTRX250 base-model identification checklist
- Copy the complete designation and model year from the vehicle’s identification records, including any suffix.
- Record frame and engine markings separately to identify a replacement engine.
- For a carburetor rebuild, photograph the carburetor markings and compare the existing parts with the kit listing.
- For rear brakes, compare shoe dimensions, pivot and cam ends, and hub details with the year-specific application.
