About the Yamaha XJ550
Shared repair parts and important Maxim–Seca application differences.
The XJ550 range offers the Maxim’s cruiser styling and the sportier Seca. Shared repair products make the family page useful for engine and intake work, but controls and chassis parts still need the complete model designation. The collection also includes XJ550L entries where individual products list them.
XJ550 Maxim and XJ550R Seca: shared intake parts, separate brake shoes
The carburetor kit and intake-holder set both cover the listed XJ550 and XJ550R 1981–1983 applications. The rear shoe products are different: one names XJ550 and the other XJ550R. Choose by the full application and the fitted hub rather than by a broad XJ550 product title.

Shared 1981–1983 examples
The linked rebuild kit and intake holders name both XJ550 and XJ550R. Check the kit contents and the intake-holder arrangement separately.
Rear drum brakes
Different XJ550 and XJ550R listings
The selected rear shoes have separate model applications. Choose by the fitted hub and exact model, not just the 550 engine size.
Engine gasket set
A wider R-model entry
The gasket set lists XJ550 1981–1983 and XJ550R 1981–1984. That extra R-model year does not extend the carburetor kit.
