About the Honda CB family

Choose the right CB generation before building your repair list.

Honda Motorcycle Logo

Honda’s CB name covers several engine layouts and generations. A CB350 twin is different from a CB350F four, and a CB500T twin is different from a CB500K four. The model letters are part of the motorcycle’s identity, not optional detail when buying parts.

The CB750 range adds another important distinction: earlier single-cam and later twin-cam applications. The CB750A Hondamatic also has its own transmission arrangement. Start with the model directory, then use the individual guide to compare the parts and years relevant to your motorcycle.

Use this page to find your model’s repair guide

For smaller twins and fours, compare the CB350, CB400, CB450 and CB500 families. CB550 and CB650 have their own guides. CB750 and CB900 owners should choose the full model suffix before selecting engine, carburetor or chassis parts. The individual product remains the authority for the offered application.

Know your Honda CB before choosing partsHonda CB distinctions that affect parts selection

Twins and fours

CB350 and CB500 examples

The CB350 family includes twin-cylinder versions and the CB350F four. CB500K and CB500T also have different engine layouts.

Parts checkpoint: Choose the exact variant before selecting engine or carburetor parts.

CB750 generations

SOHC, DOHC and Hondamatic

CB750 applications span single-cam and twin-cam generations, plus the CB750A Hondamatic. A manual-clutch recommendation is not appropriate for the Hondamatic.

Parts checkpoint: Open the CB750 guide, then choose its model and year.

Later CB models

Keep CB, CBR and suffixes distinct

CB600F and later CB models need their own fuel-system, ignition and chassis applications. Similar displacement or a shared Honda part reference does not confirm a whole-bike match.

Parts checkpoint: Keep the full code when moving between model collections.

Identify your motorcycle before orderingHonda CB identification checklist

  1. Use the frame identification and model documentation to confirm the full CB designation and year.
  2. Record the engine number independently, particularly for restorations assembled from more than one motorcycle.
  3. Check carburetor markings, brake position and any replacement fork or control assembly before selecting service parts.
Need help identifying your Honda CB?

Contact PartsNMore with the model year, frame and engine markings, and clear photos of the component being repaired.

Honda CB Motorcycle parts questions

Can Honda CB parts be selected by engine size alone?
No. For example, CB350 twins and the CB350F four need different engine and carburetor parts. CB500K and CB500T also have different engine layouts. Choose the complete model and year.
Which CB750 guide should I use for a restoration?
Start with the CB750 family guide, choose the full model suffix and then select the year. Keep SOHC, DOHC and CB750A Hondamatic applications separate when comparing repair parts.
Can I use a manual-clutch parts list for a CB750A Hondamatic?
No. The CB750A has a different transmission arrangement. Use its own model guide and product applications rather than a manual-clutch recommendation intended for another CB750.
How do I choose parts for a CB with a replacement engine or front end?
Use the frame identity for the original motorcycle and identify each replaced assembly separately. Engine markings, carburetor codes, fork details and caliper position help establish which product application to compare.
